On December 10, Kaitzak, a non-profit organization dedicated to building a healthy and interconnected global diaspora, hosted an online webinar introducing Teach For Armenia to Australia’s Armenian diaspora.
At the start of the event, Kaitzak founder and the 2024 Youth Ambassador to Australia André Vahagn Vartan-Boghossian introduced the Diaspora Youth Ambassador Program and its initiatives. “It’s important we put aside our differences and realize that our participation in Armenia as Diasporans is more important than ever,” he shared.
The webinar featured Katrina Shakarian, Head of Development at Teach For Armenia, who shared the organization’s mission to provide every child in Armenia and Artsakh with access to an excellent education, particularly in underserved rural communities.
“At Teach For Armenia, we believe that education is one of the most important investments that can be made for the future of Armenia, and we are excited to connect diasporan Armenians to their homeland through our work in education. We welcome all those seeking to get to know Armenia and invest in its future through education into our community of advocates and supporters,” she said.
Participants also heard inspiring firsthand accounts from Sarin Keofteyan, a Teacher-Leader who moved to Armenia from Lebanon and now teaches in Privolnoye village in the Lori region. Sarin was joined by her student, Diana Sarukhanyan, who shared her experiences and dreams fueled by the opportunities provided through Teach For Armenia.
Streamed live from Yerevan, the webinar underscored Teach For Armenia’s unwavering commitment to breaking down barriers to education and empowering students to achieve their potential regardless of socioeconomic challenges. Kaitzak, through initiatives like this webinar, aims to bridge diaspora communities with impactful organizations fostering progress and development in Armenia.
The event marks the first in a series of informational sessions hosted by Kaitzak to strengthen the connection between Armenia and its global diaspora.
